Student Registration Procedures
All student registrations are processed through the District Child Accounting Office located in the Lebanon High School, 1000 South Eighth Street, Lebanon, PA 17042-6727. Kindergarten registration dates are announced during the spring of each school year.

To ensure prompt and uninterrupted services, it is very helpful for the parent or student to bring along current Special Education documents when registering in the Lebanon School District.

Student records
The Family Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 states that parents have the right to examine their child's school records. Parents may examine their child's records upon request. The guidance counselor or building principal will interplay the information and answer any questions. Parents may request that information be withheld or challenged in accordance with district policy. It is requested that adequate time be allowed for the staff to prepare requested documents.

An appointment to examine your child's record can be set up by calling either the building principal, special education director, or guidance counselor. Student record files are purged of unnecessary information at the conclusion of each school year. A copy of the school district policy on the collection, maintenance and dissemination of student records can be obtained form the District Office.

Child Find, Screening, and Evaluation:
As required and referenced in federal regulations 34 CFR 300.11 (referring to child find) Lebanon School District has adopted and uses a public outreach awareness system to locate and identify children thought to be eligible for special education within the school district's jurisdiction. In addition, Lebanon School District provides annual public notification to notify parents throughout the school district of child identification activities and of the procedures to ensure confidentiality of information pertaining to students with disabilities or eligible young children in accordance with Chapter 14 as well as this district website. Child find notification can also be found in the Lebanon School District Calendar of Events, in an annual notification in the Lebanon Daily News, and at any of our district schools for additional assistance, please contact the Department of Special Education at (717) 273-9391 ext. 6726. Information and procedures are described below.

In compliance with state and federal law, the Lebanon School District will provide to each protected handicapped student without discrimination or cost to the student or family, those related aids, services or accommodations which are needed to provide equal opportunity to participate in and obtain the benefits of the school program and extracurricular activities to the maximum extent appropriate to the student's abilities. In order to qualify as a protected handicapped student the child must be of school age with a physical or mental disability, which substantially limits or prohibits participation in or access to any aspect of the school program.

These services and provisions for protected handicapped students are distinct from those applicable to all eligible or exceptional students enrolled or seeking enrollment in special education programs. For further information on the evaluation procedures and provision of services to protect handicapped students, contact Mr. Joshua Coatsworth, Director of Special Education, (717) 273-9391, ext.
