Lebanon School District Counseling Program Mission Statement

The mission of the Lebanon School District’s school counseling department is to provide a comprehensive, developmental program addressing the academic, career and personal/social needs of all students.  Lebanon School District’s counselors are professionals who, in cooperative partnerships with administrators, teachers, students and their families, local businesses and agencies, and post-secondary institutions, offer a thorough program to assist students in maximizing their potential and opportunities.

Our programs strive to deliver equal access and equity for all students and provide them with the tools and knowledge necessary to cope with life issues and be prepared with the skills required to accomplish their personal goals and become productive members of society.

Lebanon School District has professional school counselors who focus on the academic, personal-social, and career development of all students. We are advocates for all students and families and are responsible for the importance of school attendance, emphasizing its correlation to academic achievement. We are creative in our measures to ensure that we reach all students by creating a community where safety and belonging can flourish.

CAREER:

Pennsylvania requires all school districts to have a k-12 school counseling plan as part of Chapter 339. In Lebanon School District, students are introduced to the wide range of careers from the start of their elementary educational journey. The primary focus is on creating awareness – allowing students to become aware of what’s offered within the community.

PERSONAL/SOCIAL:

Growing is a learning process. Elementary school counselors teach life skills, such as friendship, manners, self-regulation, and personal safety. Many times, this is done through classroom guidance lessons. Elementary school counselors also work with students individually and in small groups, when needed.
